The video "When I Become a Teacher" was comical to me. Everything that the video portrayed and discussed was the complete opposite of what I would like to do when I have my own classroom.The teachers in the video resisted change, lacked creativity and were lazy. These are three characteristics that do not belong in the realm of teaching. I thought the video portrayed its meaning very well. Filming the video in black and white emphasized the lackluster of the teachers and their personalities. Also, by having the teachers say short statements, the comments resonated longer and it appeared as a check list of items NOT to do as a teacher. This video represents everything I WILL NOT DO as a teacher, and it should be renamed "When I Become a Teacher, I WILL MOST DEFINITELY NOT DO THESE THINGS!"
In response to the question, "when I become a teacher..." I will make sure to remain positive, energetic and enthusiastic about my content and students. I will make sure to utilize creative avenues, and allow my students to express their creativity. I will foster a friendly and comfortable learning environment, as well as be available to my students. I will make sure to respect my students and be a role model for them.
